Artist Statement

I create minimalist, abstract, yet functional ceramic pieces that offer a tactile exploration of the physicality of our world. My curiosity drives the work, while its philosophical foundation grows from lived experience, spiritual and scientific inquiry, and a deep connection to the Earth.

My practice explores the blurred line between life and death, between the organic and the non-organic. Clay, paper, and glaze become vessels for that inquiry—each piece a quiet bridge between earthbound matter and the cosmic unknown. I experiment freely — through painterly surface treatments, meticulous glaze testing, and thoughtful design. Inspired by the wabi-sabi aesthetic of my roots and shaped by the influence of Eastern philosophies such as Advaita Vedanta and Zen, my work holds space for both simplicity and awe.

Born in Russia and based in California, I come from a background in science, linguistics, yoga, and visual art. A turning point in my life taught me how to love — fully and without fear — and with that came the ability to express. Art returned not as a hobby, but as a way to live and speak through form. Ceramics has since become my way of communing with silence, nature, and the cosmos. Whether sculptural or functional, each piece carries the trace of touch, time, and transformation — anchored in matter, yet made to illuminate.

The creation of my ceramic pieces is a slow and meticulous process that can span from two weeks to two months. This journey begins with searching for the perfect clay, followed by numerous experiments with shapes, and numerous attempts at finding a perfect glaze.

Each piece undergoes a gradual drying process and multiple firings which ensures that the final product is a work of art and a testament to craftsmanship.
